IBM enhances all-flash storage offerings for cloud and cognitive business

As I visit with IBM Business Partners around the world, you’ve been telling me that your customers urgently need efficient, secure storage at a fair price that won’t break the bank.

On August 23, IBM Storage announced truly revolutionary all-flash storage offerings at prices aimed squarely at small and mid-sized firms. The new all-flash IBM Storwize V7000F and IBM Storwize V5030F are just the ticket to provide safe, primary storage for cloud or cognitive applications and workloads. And the best part is that these models start at USD 19,000.

How does IBM do it? We leverage our industry-leading IBM Spectrum Virtualize software to help customers keep costs down and experience enterprise-class functionality even in an entry-level system. Real-time data compression, encryption, thin provisioning and snapshot ability across almost 400 storage systems from a multitude of vendors all contribute to improving storage capability and efficiency. In a nutshell, IBM Spectrum Virtualize optimizes data security, reliability and operational costs.

3 simple things you should tell your customers about the new IBM Storwize V7000F and V5030F

These new all-flash models:

  1. Deliver better performance for cognitive and cloud workloads at a highly attractive price
  2. Reduce CapEx, OpEx and operational processes for storage environments
  3. Offer a large variety of enterprise-class data services for companies ranging from global enterprises to small and medium businesses

Storwize V7000F improves performance by up to 45 percent and supports four times the clustering for scale-out and scale-up growth to help organizations manage rapidly growing data sets. And Storwize V5030F offers entry-level all-flash storage with high performance and availability at an attractive price point to help clients control costs.

IBM Spectrum Virtualize at the heart
IBM Spectrum Virtualize software is at the heart of these solutions, enabling new cloud capabilities and services. And now IBM Spectrum Virtualize can run on x86 servers in cloud and enterprise deployments. Using these standard Intel servers, IBM Spectrum Virtualize software can be easily added to existing infrastructures to deliver greater storage efficiency. This new ability simplifies cloud storage deployments for enterprise customers and enables straightforward disaster recovery from on-premises SAN Volume Controller or Storwize storage to cloud storage. Similarly, service providers can gain the benefits of IBM Spectrum Virtualize and use it to create the foundation for new offerings such as disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS) for customers using systems built with IBM Spectrum Virtualize.

An opportunity for you

Yesterday’s announcements have changed the storage landscape, allowing organizations of every size and budget to leverage all-flash technology. This translates into a golden opportunity for all of us. With over 80 percent of IBM Storwize sales delivered by IBM Business Partners, I am fully committed to ensuring your success!
