The IBM Power Systems Journey (in Four Minutes)

In a series of bold moves over the last 18 months, IBM has redefined the POWER platform to align with unprecedented market shifts.

We’ve supercharged POWER to help clients with the deluge of data that is transforming enterprises today. We improved its capabilities as a great cloud engine.

And, in an unprecedented move for the server market, we made POWER hardware and software available to open development and initiated an industry-wide alliance to expand the ecosystem of innovators on the platform.

We started the OpenPOWER initiative with four other companies that shared our vision—Google, Mellanox, NVIDIA and Tyan—and today the OpenPOWER Foundation has surpassed 100 members from across the industry. OpenPOWER has become a hotbed of innovation, at all levels of the stack.

To learn more about POWER’s fascinating journey, check out this interview by IBM’s David Barnes with Doug Balog, GM for Power Systems™:
