The IBM Beacon Awards: our way of recognizing IBM Business Partners who help transform the way their clients, their industries and the world do business. I’m always happy when this time of year rolls around, as we get to hear more about the unique ways you leverage your close relationship with IBM and the innovative new hardware, software and services solutions that you’re delivering. We’ve just launched the Beacon Awards nomination period, which will run from September 9 through November 15, 2013.
I wanted to focus on this issue now for one simple reason; with the beginning of nominations only a month away, it’s a great time for you as Business Partners to think carefully about the client reference you submit. Because it’s a requirement for each Business Partner award application, submitting the right reference to support the application is vital. We want to learn how you’ve successfully delivered business value to clients across geographies, industries, solutions and front-office pain points. What sets you apart? What is it you do that no one else can?
For the 2014 IBM Beacon Awards, we expect to have a very similar award lineup to the 30 awards we had for 2013. What’s more, we’ll be introducing recognition for our socially responsible Business Partners as well, to reflect your corporate citizenship efforts. During the PartnerWorld Leadership Conference this past February, some of you were invaluable in helping us work with Three Square Food Bank of Las Vegas with the goal of packing 2,000 bags for the “BackPack for Kids” program and bringing in donations—that was a great show of support, and a fine example of the standard of leadership and social outreach that is so important to us here at IBM.
Speaking of leadership, the 2014 IBM Beacon Awards serve as both recognition and opportunity for IBM Business Partners to share stories that directly impact the direction technology is moving in as cloud, big data and mobile solutions continue to gain traction in the midmarket. Moreover, those of you who have won Beacon Awards in the past are well aware of how using the award marks and video assets can help you build your reputation and visibility in the market. Here are a few quotes from some of our 2013 IBM Beacon Award winners:
“This is our second time winning an IBM Beacon Award. We’ve been an IBM Premier Partner since 2003, and I can certainly say that achieving the Beacon Award is the ultimate recognition.”—Audrey Dunning, CEO, Summa Technologies, Inc. (2013 IBM Beacon Award winner for “Outstanding Business Agility Solution”)
“We are deeply honored to win a Beacon Award. We recognize that there are hundreds of extremely good IBM Partners out there globally, and to be singled out for this award is not only a tremendous honor for us, but very humbling.”—Charlie Cox, president, Datatrend Technologies, Inc. (2013 IBM Beacon Award winner for “Outstanding Optimized x86 System Solution: System x and BladeCenter”)
“Winning the Beacon Award means two things: One is the relationship with IBM, which is very important to us. It also means that our customers—both current and future—get the security that our solutions will bring them value.”—Kjetil Eritzman, CEO, Intelcom (2013 IBM Beacon Award winner for “Analytics and Big Data: Information Management Innovation”)
The 2014 IBM PartnerWorld Leadership Conference
In keeping with tradition, the presentation of the Beacon Award winners will once again take place at the PartnerWorld Leadership Conference. However, the conference will be a little earlier next year, running from February 10-13, 2014 at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, a luxury resort casino and hotel that opened in December, 2010. This year, the hotel was rated “The Best Hotel in the World” by travel website Gogobot, so we think you’re going to enjoy it. The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is located just south of the Bellagio on the west side of the Las Vegas Strip.
