PartnerWorld at Think Tuesday recap: Connections, coffee and more

Welcome back to another PartnerWorld at Think daily recap. On this final day of our executive leadership conference, the theme was connections. Attendees had some great opportunities to connect with geo peers, contemplate the benefits of forging new partnerships, meet up with IBM executives and more.

Here are a few highlights from the day:

Morning motivation: Women in the Channel Breakfast

Some of us started the day with the Women in the Channel breakfast. We heard from:

Diana Nyad—a journalist, motivational speaker and record-breaking long-distance swimmer—who regaled us with stories from her childhood up until that moment where she achieved her life-long dream to swim the 110 miles from Cuba to Florida—at age 64. We laughed, we cried, and most of all, we were truly inspired by her amazing journey and incredible achievement.

We also heard from innovative entrepreneur Jenny Fleiss, co-founder of Jetblack and Rent the Runway, who talked about the birth of the wildly successful Rent the Runway, an online service that provides designer dress and accessory rentals. She shared her own journey from idea to execution and the many valuable lessons in between, such as finding that balance between what the data will tell you, and what the consumers are really saying when creating a solution.

Connections: Geography Forums and ecosystem partnerships

The Geo Forum Sessions gave attendees an opportunity to connect with IBMers and peers from their particular part of the world. Groups were able to gain insights on emerging regional trends and local initiatives from IBM executives and partner success stories.

IBM Business Partner Connect

Before lunch, we all came back together at Think Park to talk about the benefits of forging new relationships within the IBM Business Partner Ecosystem through the newly launched IBM Business Partner Connect program. Partners got to experience the program’s matchmaking service that pairs them with partners that have complementary skills. Combining expertise and collaborating on innovative solutions can help us all better compete in the next-gen world.

BP Café

Around lunchtime, we opened up the BP Café, where many of you were able to meet up with IBM executives over coffee, lunch and other refreshments. Sponsored by Ingram Micro, the BP Café will be open throughout Think 2019. You can talk with IBM team members at the Smart Bar, hear presentations in the Spotlight Theater or schedule meeting rooms for discussions with IBMers or other Business Partners.

On to Think 2019

As PartnerWorld at Think came to a close, attendees made their way to a viewing location for the Think 2019 Chairman’s Address from IBM Chairman, President and CEO Ginni Rometty. This year, she spoke about the launch of Watson Anywhere, and had conversations with leaders from Geico, Red Hat, and more.

Many attendees then had a sneak peek of the expo floor for 2019, where PartnerWorld at Think attendees get their first glimpses of Think Campuses.

Now that Think 2019 is underway, Business Partner executives can meet up with the rest of their teams to experience all that this premier client conference has to offer. We hope your team will find your community in a Think Campus, sample from the enormous number of sessions, explore new technologies, meet up with technology experts, add some certifications and, of course, connect with clients.

Think 2019 will also provide a rich source for new inspiration. Check back here tomorrow, where we’ll give you a recap of the Watson Build Showcase, which will be held tomorrow on the Data and AI Campus. The Showcase will feature prototypes of 12 innovative Watson-based solutions developed by Business Partners from around the world in just the past nine months.
